Three facing multiple charges for shooting flare guns at multiple people in Dubuque
DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) - Three people in Dubuque are facing charges after police say they drove around shooting a flare guns at multiple cars and people and later started an apartment fire on Wednesday morning.
Police arrested 3 suspects this afternoon: Chandler Austin Bourgeous, 21, of Apple River, IL, Royal William Kody Broman, 27, of Asbury, and a 16-year-old girl, also from Asbury.
All three are facing multiple charges, including Arson, Willful Injury, and Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon.
Police responded to the area of 10th and Locust Street around 8:00 A.M. on a report of someone shooting out a car window.
Officers found two vehicles with shattered windows on the scene, with one car on fire.
Police then responded to an apartment on 3rd & Locust street after someone reported a flare was shot through their apartment window, starting a fire inside.
Officers then went to a call on the 9th & Locust, where a woman said people in a red SUV fired a flare gun at her. The woman wasn’t hurt.
Police then met with a man on the 400 block of Bluff Street who said a flare hit him in the thigh, injuring his leg.
Authorities say City of Dubuque traffic cameras were reviewed to identify the 2017 Kia Sorento they say was involved in the incidents.
Police also used traffic cameras to track down the Kia at Walmart on 4200 Dodge Street and make the arrests.
Police say they found four 12-gauge flare guns and additional flares when they searched the car.
